2022: Year of Celebrating SG Families
Today we were invited onsite to attend the 8th “State of the Family” dialogue organised by Focus on the Family.
At the event, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, Mr K Shanmugam, was the Guest-of-Honour.
In his opening speech, Minister spoke about the importance of families as the basic, essential building blocks of society, and the policies and plans in Singapore which support the family structure. These cover a number of areas, including: the areas of public housing, tax rebates, cash benefits and various leave benefits.

In another interesting segment, chief counsellor at Focus Alicia Boo highlighted some statistics from a “Celebrate Marriage Quiz”:
- 32% of the respondents feel that conversations are lacking in their marriage
- 26% feel detached from their spouse
All said, we certainly believe and concur with the fact that strong marriages and families are the bedrock of our society.

This same month, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has dedicated 2022 as the “Year of Celebrating SG Families.” Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli said:
“Families play an important role in our lives, and this was evident during the Covid pandemic when families rallied to overcome the challenges that came their way. With strong support from our families, each of us is empowered to pursue our aspirations.
We want to journey alongside families – to strengthen family bonds; and for all of us to collectively prioritise our family. The Year of Celebrating SG Families is a whole-of-society movement, and we encourage the people, public and private sectors to join us in celebrating families and nurturing a family-friendly ecosystem.”
Family is the second pillar in Soulrich and we are committed to help build strong families in Singapore. Watch this space as we get ready to launch something exciting in June!
